You would never deliberately feed poison to your pets, but without knowing what we have researched you are slowly and steadily killing them.　　 Every time you feed commercial pet food you are shortening the life of your best pal, AND increasing your veterinary bills.　　　 If you really knew what the basis of that expensive bag or can of dog or cat food was, you would never touch it with your hands, let alone feed it as food for your pet.

If you are still "in one piece" go check the ingredients in your commercial food, dry or canned, dog or cat. The main ingredient is a powder (the end result of the rendering process) that is then made to look like anything that the pet food manufacturer chooses it to be. We established from several pet food manufacturers, the cost to fill a can. A 16 oz can costs them about 3 cents, a 6 oz can about 1 cent. You are paying between $1.25 and $2.00 a can for ""dog food"", when we learned the true cost of the contents, it really got our attention to search further.

So what can you do about it, it is up to you, you have choices, there are a few good wholesome foods out there, you can search the internet and have them shipped to your door. They appear to be expensive but the savings may well show up in the cost of veterinary care. Or you can cook for your pets, this is what we all do. Plain white rice and chicken, with a little fresh vegetables added and the occasional egg.  Not only will this wholesome diet save you a major amount of money, but you will see a major change in your pet.

Need further convincing; look at how many times over the last 3 years that the pet food has been recalled and horror stories of dogs and cats dying.

More evidence: We Paws2Help have operated a non profit veterinary clinic in West Palm Beach,since 1997. I would honestly say that our records will show a major increase in young dogs and cats coming to us for treatment that we just cannot save. Our doctor may be removing a cancerous tumor only to find that the disease is so rampant in the young animals body that it would be inhumane to wake the pet up from anesthesia.

More and more skin problems, allergy problems, U.T. infections, bladder stones, etc, etc, and the list is ongoing.

When I try to tell people that the food is killing their pets and they should consider cooking for them, they often say I do not have time to cook for myself, I agree neither do we often cook at home ourselves. But my animals, I have 6 big dogs and 3 kitties, they eat home cooked food. Do I cook it? well, yes and no, the chicken goes into a crock pot and cooks itself, the meat just falls off the bone and the crock pot lives in the garage so I do not have to smell the cooking every day. The rice, I cook for the (6 dogs, and 3 feral dogs 9 in total) rice every day. I invested in a commercial rice cooker for this volume. The cost of the rice cooker paid for itself in less than 2 weeks.　

THE SAVINGS AND THE WEIGHT LIFTING.

I would rather carry home two 20lb bags of rice for $8 each, than two 60lb bags of poison laden $40 bags of garbage from the pet store. A GREAT BIG SAVING IN MONEY ALONE.

The chicken that we buy is the 10lb bags of leg quarters and can range in price from 40cents to 70cents a lb. Go back over the contents of a 16 oz can of food that you are paying around $1.50 a can for and see how much freshly cooked chicken you could put in that same can.
